Matt Kaiser to Speak at the 26th Annual Transnational Crime Conference

Kaiser partner Matt Kaiser will co-chair a session on May 9th at the 26th Annual Transnational Crime Conference presented by the IBA Criminal Law Committee and the International Bar Association’s Business Crime Committee.

On Thursday, Matt will moderate a panel about criminal cases and whistleblowing. The panel will include co-chair, Janusz Tomczak as well as Flavia Leardini, Riccardo Lucev, Sherbir Panag, and Natalie Sherborn. The panel will discuss whistleblower protections and whistleblower rewards programs in many jurisdictions around the globe, as well as strategies for effectively representing clients in investigations started by whistleblowers.

The Transnational Crime Conference will convene criminal defense attorneys worldwide in Milan, Italy from May 8th to May 10th. The conference agenda features engaging panel discussions on critical transnational crime matters such as extradition, collaboration with law enforcement, deferred prosecution agreements, and defendant rights. Specific sessions will delve into whistleblowing, subsidies fraud, and tax offenses. Key topics encompass formal and informal collaboration with enforcement agencies, extradition procedures, best practices in negotiating deferred prosecution agreements, subsidies fraud detection, whistleblowing mechanisms, tax-related prosecutions, and safeguarding defendant rights including pre-trial detention concerns. Matt is the co-Senior Vice-Chair of the IBA’s Criminal Law Committee.
