Malik Gerdes is a versatile litigator with significant experience representing clients across a broad range of matters, including government investigations, securities litigation, complex commercial disputes, and civil rights.

Malik has counseled Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, technology platforms, and government agencies through complex, high-stakes challenges. He brings strong investigatory and analytical skills to each engagement and is known for providing pragmatic guidance focused on clients’ practical goals.

Prior to joining Kaiser, Malik was a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in Washington, D.C., where he developed deep experience in white-collar defense and regulatory investigations, securities litigation, and complex commercial disputes. He also maintained an active pro bono practice, including representing high school students, teachers, and community organizations in connection with First Amendment civil rights claims and counseling a leading national reproductive rights nonprofit on access to justice issues in connection with rapid state law developments.

Before entering private practice, Malik clerked for the Honorable Bernice B. Donald (Ret.) of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, where he drafted opinions and orders across a wide range of federal matters, including constitutional, criminal, and civil rights issues.

Malik is licensed to practice law in New York and the District of Columbia. He is a heritage speaker of French.

When he is not working, Malik enjoys soccer and exploring the culinary traditions of New Orleans.
