Amelia Schmidt Speaks on Panel on Export Controls and Sanctions at Women’s White Collar Defense Association Meeting

Amelia Schmidt spoke on a panel to members of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association at a meeting in DC on May 5, 2026, about how clients are navigating sanctions, export controls, and national security risks in an ever-changing—and increasingly uncertain—regulatory and enforcement environment.

The panel was hosted over lunch by WWCDA and Hughes Hubbard’s Washington DC office, and featured experienced practitioners who help companies and individuals navigate compliance, enforcement, and litigation in this complicated legal space.

Joined by Tracey Fung (Director & Managing Associate General Counsel at Verizon) and Alexis Farris Wetzler (Vice President, Export & Sanctions Compliance, Honeywell Aerospace), with moderator Shayda Vance (Hughes Hubbard), Amelia and the panel spoke about recent changes in export controls and sanctions laws, the risks and challenges that come with those changes, and factors companies and individuals may consider in addressing those risks and challenges.
