NACDL 2025 White Collar Seminar Spotlight
In September, Kaiser attorneys Courtney Forrest, Matt Kaiser, Sarah Fink, Jonathan Jeffress, Amelia Schmidt, and Noah Brozinsky attended the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ 2025 White Collar Seminar and Fall Board Meeting in DC. This annual seminar, headlined “Defending the White Collar Case: In and Out of Court,” brought together practitioners from all over the country for three days of networking and brainstorming.
“This conference is always one of my favorite events of the year,” said partner Courtney Forrest. “The energy, enthusiasm, and combined experience of so many premier defense lawyers in one place creates an electric atmosphere.”
Panels included strategy discussions for litigating whistleblower and False Claims Act cases; understanding the pitfalls of government contracts; lessons on jury selection in high-profile cases; the ethics of using AI in the courtroom; and in-depth discussions with Hon. Richard Boulware and Hon. Paula Xinis, two federal district court judges with experience on the defense side of the courtroom. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman Dan Goldman also appeared and discussed legislation and policy initiatives affecting the criminal defense bar.
Committee meetings through the conference also allowed attendees to connect with colleagues in smaller groups to focus on issues of common interest. The Decarceration, Women in Criminal Defense, and Criminalization of Voting Committees were just a few of those welcoming both existing members and interested attendees to join the conversation and collaborate. Ms. Forrest attended the Fourth Amendment Committee meeting. “I’m so glad I decided to attend the committee meeting, where I connected with folks from NACDL’s Fourth Amendment Center,” she said. “They pointed me toward a wealth of resources that will help me prepare for an upcoming argument in the D.C. Circuit that presents.”
Kaiser PLLC is proud to support the work of NACDL and its commitment to zealous advocacy in all types of criminal matters.
