Matt Kaiser Named 2027 Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” for Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law in Washington, D.C.

This distinguished honor is awarded to only one lawyer in each practice area and geographic region, recognizing the individual who receives the highest overall peer feedback within that specialty and location.
Matt’s selection carries particular weight in a market of this size. Washington, D.C. leads the nation in the 2027 edition with more than 4,100 recognized lawyers, and the honor reflects the standing he has built among the D.C. bar in a practice area defined by the judgment of other lawyers.
Matt was also recognized in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for his work in Criminal Defense: White-Collar, Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law, Legal Malpractice Law – Defendants, and Legal Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs.
Matt helps two kinds of clients: people facing a crisis that threatens their reputation, livelihood, or liberty, and lawyers, or their clients, who need counsel on professional responsibility or legal malpractice. A former assistant federal public defender, he brings substantial litigation and courtroom experience to matters that often require substantial discretion and judgment. He served three years as Chair of the District of Columbia Board on Professional Responsibility and currently serves as Co-Chair of the International Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee.
