Matt Kaiser Shares Insights on Legal Ethics at AILA RDC-EMEA Conference in Amsterdam
Matt Kaiser, founding partner of Kaiser PLLC, spoke at the American Immigration Lawyers Association Rome District Chapter – European, Middle East, and Africa 2024 Spring Conference, which was held at the International Theater Amsterdam from March 3rd to March 5th.
Matt participated in a panel on March 4th, discussing legal ethics issues relevant to American immigration lawyers practicing primarily in Europe. The event, titled “Is There Common Ground,” reviewed topics such as conflicts of interest for immigration practitioners when representing both employers and employees in visa applications; the obligations of lawyers to investigate the source of client funds; and common provisions to consider in engagement agreements.
Along with Matt’s background in teaching professional responsibility at Georgetown University Law Center, he also served as a member of the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility and, for three years, as Chair of the Board. Matt serves on several local, national, and international bar committees relating to legal ethics and white-collar criminal defense.
The RDC-EMEA conference provided valuable insights for U.S. immigration lawyers assisting clients with consular processing. The chapter, which comprises over 900 members, welcomes all AILA attorneys regardless of their location. Through its 39 chapters and over 50 national committees, AILA offers continuing legal education, information, professional services, and expertise.
